Nancy Brewer, M.A.

Nancy J. Brewer, the OKCHE’s President-Elect for 2019-2020. I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with both my Bachelors and Masters in History; as well as being a National Board Certified Teacher. I have taught at Belle Isle Enterprise Middle School for 19 years, teaching 8th grade U.S. History and Government. Recently I was appointed by Governor Stitt to serve a three-year term on the Oklahoma State Textbook Committee. Additionally, I am the Teacher-in-Residence at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum this summer. I have a deep passion for U.S. History, Native American Studies, and the history of our great state, Oklahoma.

Randall Briggs, M.A.

Randall Briggs, the OKCHE’s Secretary for 2019-2020. I spent 20 years in the Army, retiring in 1999. I served in various roles, from a private going through boot camp to the second-in-command of an Apache attack helicopter battalion. The last 6 years were at the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. At the latter, I wrote a 60-page chapter on Vietnam for the book Compound Warfare: That Fatal Knot, edited by Thomas Huber and (finally) published in 2004. After retirement, I found that I had teaching in my blood, so I became a school teacher. I taught Leadership and U.S. History in Tulsa Public Schools for 8 years and just finished my 12th year teaching at Bixby High School. I have also taught courses at Tulsa Community College and Rogers State University. I worked with many outstanding educators: great teachers, great administrators and great staff it, and they have both inspired me and helped guide me in how to transfer his enthusiasm for learning to my students. I currently teach AP U.S. History and AP Research.
