We recognize that while history is a social science, teaching it is an artful blend of factual representation and creative delivery, allowing the student to learn about the past while seeing the relevancy to their world today. We strive to help teachers take their passion for history and create a dynamic learning opportunity in the classroom.

Board Elections

The Oklahoma Council for History Education (OKCHE) is welcoming interest from educators and history advocates who want to help advance history education across Oklahoma. The next two-year Board of Directors term runs from January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2028. Both current board members interested in continuing to serve and new members are encouraged to apply.

Oklahoma on the Wall

Oklahoma on the Wall is an OKCHE project funded through the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Regional Grant Program. The project explores New Deal-era post office murals across Oklahoma and their historical significance. Explore classroom resources and learn how to bring the traveling exhibit to your school, library, museum, or community organization.
